DUE TO POWER OUTAGES THE FUNERAL FOR JAMES HONEYCUTT WILL BE AT 1 PM AT THE MONTICELLO CHRISTIAN CHURCH. FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 12PM UNTIL THE TIME OF THE SERVICE AT THE CHURCH. James A. Honeycutt, 68, of Monticello, passed away at 10:43 am, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on April 9, 1945 in Logansport. On March 4, 1967 he married Peggy L. (Hampton) Honeycutt in Monticello and she survives. Jim was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. He was an automobile mechanic for many years working for Tee Garden McGraw Ford formerly of Monticello. He also worked for Schwan's. In his spare time, Jim loved working on cars and doing auto body work for friends and also himself. He also enjoyed wood working. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything, and as a result, was able to remodel his house himself. He is also survived by three daughters, Sherry Honeycutt of Lafayette, Teresa Landis of Lafayette, Jessica Honeycutt (husband,Tyler Merrick) of Sheridan; a son, James (Denise) Honeycutt Jr. of Delphi; eleven grandchildren, Amber, Brittney, Alexis, Andrew, Hunter, Michael, Shane, Keidra, Brigham, Megan, Jonathon; and five great-grandchildren, Kyryn, Pyper, Charlotte, Willow, and Violet. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Lydia (Hendricks) Honeycutt; and a granddaughter, Courtney McCall. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello with full military rites rendered. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the Monticello Christian Church.
