Jack W. Davis, 85, of rural Monticello passed peacefully at home May 23, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born to the late Lester and Gertrude (Long) Davis on December 13, 1936 in Boone County.
He devoted 67 years to his bride, Marilyn S. Rodenbarger, who he married on July 31, 1954 inMillington, TN; she survives.
Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1953 and served stateside until 1956. Jack was an active member and Exalted Ruler of the Frankfort Elks Lodge, leading his team to the 1958 National Convention in New York. His celebrated career with Chevrolet began in sales in Frankfort in 1970, allowing him to travel and relocate several times. One assignment led Jack, an avid golfer and dedicated spectator to discover his favorite golf course in Asheville, North Carolina, before retiring from GM in 2000. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, attending church, and sharing his hobbies with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, and his beloved daughter, Janet Sue (Guy) Hoaks.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; brother, Fred (Carolyn) Davis of Frankfort; four children; Rick "Doc" (Jennifer) Davis, DVM of Rensselaer, Diana (Steve) Netser of Monticello, Patricia (Bill) Culley of Indianapolis and Mary Ellen (Doug) Davis of Brownsburg; eighteen grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private for family.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
