Ingeborg 'Inge' Haygood

Ingeborg "Inge" Haygood, 81, of Lafayette, died at 4:22 pm, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on December 18, 1931 in Heibronn, Germany to the late Hermann and Lilly (Hofmann) Klug. On September 17, 1951 she married Oren Haygood in Frankfurt, Germany. He preceded her in death January 31, 2000. She graduated high school in Germany. After her children were raised, she pursued her passion of becoming a nurse and obtained her nursing degree from Ivy Tech in Lafayette where she graduated at the top of her class. She practiced many years at Westminster Village from which she retired. She was a proud recipient of several nursing awards. She became proficient at speaking English after moving to the United States, a task she accomplished by doing crossword puzzles which she continued to enjoy daily the rest of her life. Inge enjoyed Disney World and was a lover of all animals, especially her cats. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Steve) Kaspar of Warrenton, MO; two sons, Gerald L. (Anne) Haygood of Oxford, Thomas O. Haygood of West Lafayette; three grandsons, Ryan S. Kaspar, Alexander O. Kaspar, and Trevor J. Kaspar all of Missouri. A brother and a half-brother reside in Germany. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Keith Raderstorf officiating. Burial will follow at Idaville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
