Helen Taylor Ashby, 92 of Monticello, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on June 22, 1929 to the late Bernie Watterson and Margaret (Taylor) Shultz. In 1947, Helen married William ONeal Ashby and celebrated 60 years together until his death in 2008.
After living in Hammond for 33 years, Bill and Helen moved to Monticello in 1980. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church where she was very active and helped organize the Circle of Faith where she was still a member. Helen loved people and helping them in any way she could. She said she was blessed with many great friends. Helen enjoyed playing golf, dancing, music and crocheting but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her son; Stephen (Lynette) Ashby of Venice, FL; sisters, Juline Campfield of Lapel, and Katherine Brizendine of Hickory, NC, grandson; Patrick (Melissa) Ashby, granddaughter; Lauren E. (Scott) Sherman; great grandchildren, Grant Henry Ashby, Charlotte Taylor Ashby, Margot Lillian Ashby, Olivia Anne Sherman, and Lucy Rose Sherman; and three nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a nephew.
Visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2021 from 11:00 am (EST) until the time of services at 1:00 pm at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial donations encouraged to Monticello United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
