Helen M. Nicklaus

Helen M. Nicklaus, 89, of Monticello, passed away at 10:07 pm, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.She was born on April 24, 1928 in Little Rock, AR to the late Thomas Lawrence and Tessie Mae (Mooney) Johnson. Helen's father passed away when she was a baby and her mother remarried and her step-father Jessie Moody helped raise her. On March 15, 1946 in Little Rock, AR she married Hugh Nicklaus and he preceded her in death June 24, 2003.Helen was a homemaker while her children were growing up but later took a job in banking as a mortgage processor. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, and was a very talented seamstress until her eyesight prevented her from her hobbies. There was a time when she made clothing and costumes for her children. Above all she enjoyed her family. Surviving are her children, Janet (Dennis) Pucci of Monticello, IN, Jerry (Rose Mary) Nicklaus of Greenville, SC; son-in-law, Paul Nichols of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, David, William, Robert, Jeff, Scott, Matthew, Ann Marie, Nicole, and Melissa; and eleven great-grandchildren.Also preceding her in death was daughter, Donna Nichols.A memorial service celebrating Helen's life will be at 11:00 am (ET), Monday, October 30,2017 at Springer-Voorhis- Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev.
