Helen R. Beiswanger, 80, of Buffalo, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at her residence.
She was born on September 13, 1945 in Lafayette to the late Norbert L and Marian (Allgeier) Korty. On Oct 26, 1968 she married Harold Beiswanger at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette. He survives.
She was in the first freshman class and graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School and completed a dental assistant training course. She went on to work as a dental assistant for Dr. Raymond Price. Later she worked in retail sales for Deeker Office & Gifts and later as a grounds keeper for Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and was very active as a caregiver and volunteer. She received the 1988 White County volunteer of the Year Award. She served in the United States Women's Army Core. She was a girl scout leader and service unit manager of the Girl Scouts Sycamore Council. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Sodality, National Council of Catholic Women, Marriage Encounter Team John XXIII of the Lafayette Diocese and Indiana Rural Youth. She also was a 4-H Club leader.
She is survived by four children, Deanna (Marty) Parish of Lake Worth, FL, David Beiswanger of Cincinnati, Joanna (Scott) Thompson of Francesville, Neil (Michelle) Beiswanger of Monticello; eight siblings, Dorothy Thise, Lucy Tormoelhen, Herman Korty, Jane Synovec, Norbert Korty, Isadore Korty, Thomas Korty, Ruth Grider; five grandchildren, Rhiannon Koon, Devon Beiswanger, Kyle Beiswanger, Miranda Thompson, Nathan Thompson; two great grandchildren, Hayley and Hannah Koon.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Beiswanger; siblings, Juliann Eickholtz, Bernadette Korty, Daniel Korty, Stephen Korty, David Korty; brother-in-law, Richard Tormoelhen; sisters-in-law, Betty Korty, Rebecca Korty, Sharon Korty.
Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1pm Monday at the Church with Father Chris Miller celebrating.
Private burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
