Harvey Gene Garbison, 81, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
He was born on March 6, 1944, in LaPorte, Indiana, to the late Harvey O. and Hilda M. (Moore) Garbison. His second marriage was to Waneta Glassburn on October 1, 1997, and she survives him. Harvey is also survived by his three children and caregivers, Tim (Kim) Garbison of Attica, Jim (Kim) Garbison of Monticello, and Tracy (Matt) Austin of Birdseye; three siblings, Ron (Ann) Garbison of Monticello, Sandy McPherson of Arkansas, Steve Garbison of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Isaac Austin, Claire Garbison, Nic Garbison, Guy Austin, Iain Garbison, Brice Austin, Cole Garbison; two step children, Rick (Mary Jo) Glassburn of Peru, Wanda Woodhams of Monticello; four step grandchildren and their families, Mike Woodhams, AJ Woodhams, Evan Glassburn, Austin Glassburn.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Roxanna "Punk" Garbison, brother-in-law, Wayne McPherson, and infant brother, Jerry Lee Garbison.
Harvey attended Roosevelt High School and entered the workforce at RCA, where he served as a Union Steward and Contract Negotiator with the Union Bargaining Team. He later worked as an Operator before retiring from the Monticello Wastewater Treatment Plant.
He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church. He was also a proud past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of AMVETS Post 91, American Legion Post 81, and Monticello Jaycees. He volunteered at the White County Food Pantry. Harvey enjoyed fishing and, in his younger years, hunting. He was an avid fan of the Purdue Boilermakers, Chicago Cubs & Bears, and Indianapolis Colts.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Pastor John Westfall officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the White County Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
