Gordon Ray Crawford, 88, of Buffalo, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born on June 13, 1936 in Lansing, IL to the late Robert F. and Geraldine (Jones) Crawford. His mother remarried and was later known as Geraldine Wiseley. On May 29, 1976, Gordon married the former Judy (Tucker) Lemmon in Portage. She survives. 

Gordon graduated from high school in Lansing, IL. He went on to a 20 year career in the Navy and served in Viet Nam and Korea. While in the military, he received a National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star, a second Good Conduct award in January 1966 and a Viet Nam Service medal. After his Navy retirement, he worked as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service retiring a second time following 20 years.

He enjoyed watching game shows, playing cards on the computer and crossword puzzles. He cherished his family and especially enjoyed holidays with them.

In addition to his wife, Judy of Buffalo, Gordon is survived by four children, Cheryl Crawford of Washington state, Kimberley (Aaron) Brownlee of Corpus Christi, TX, Laura Lemmon of LaPorte, Jim Lemmon of South Bend; brother, Randy (Marilyn) Crawford of Buffalo; nine grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Morse; brothers, Bob and Darwin Crawford.

Visitation will be from 11am until 1pm at the Buffalo Christian Church on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Memorial services celebrating Gordon's life will immediately follow at 1pm beginning with military rites. Harold Rutledge of the Buffalo Christian Church will officiate services.

Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Buffalo Christian Church or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the church.
