Gerald Franklin Yocum passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022 in Parrish, FL surrounded by family and friends.


He was born on January 24, 1937 in Bushnell, IL to the late Hiram and Florence (Arnett) Yocum. On November 6, 1976, he married Cherie Marett and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2004.


He served as a U.S. Marine. Gerald moved from Griffith, IN to Monticello. He owned and operated Yocum Sanitation with his wife Cherie. Gerald and Cherie also owned and operated Roller Junction, the local roller rink.


He retired several times and took up woodworking as a hobby. He was still bored and started mowing lawns until he moved to Florida to live with his daughter in September of 2016.


He is survived by his daughter, Tina (David) Borling; grandchildren, Cristen, Michael, and Rush; older stepson, Bryan Ireland (deceased February, 2017); step grandchildren, Miriah Ireland, Brett Hall; stepson, Shawn Ireland; step grandchildren, Ashley Ireland, Kayla Ireland (Michael McCormick), Jake Ireland; six great grandchildren.


A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm for immediate family and friends.


A celebration of life with a D.J. will be held at Redman Lodge in Monticello on June 2, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm.


Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
