Georgia Sanders

Georgia M. Sanders, 79, of Monticello, passed away at 12:18 pm, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born on May 20, 1935 in Rensselaer to the late David and Helen (Pollack) Mitchell. She married Irl "Buck" Sanders on November 21, 1953. He survives in Monticello. Georgia was a 1952 graduate of Westville High School. She was a member of the Guernsey Church of the Brethren, where she was involved in making hats and blankets for children born at the hospital. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the church. Mrs. Sanders owned her own clothing store in Medaryville. She was also a Cub Scout leader in Medaryville. She loved bowling and was on the Monticello Bowling League for over 25 years. She volunteered at the local nursing homes and worked with Helping Hands in Monticello. Georgia loved her family and was a proud grandma and great grandma. The family would like to give a special thank you to Great Lakes Hospice, Oxygen Plus and Dr. Diamond. She is survived by a daughter, Vickie (Tim) Loeber of Crown Point; a son, Greg (Darlene) Sanders of Noblesville; one sister, Mabel Molden of Crown Point; a brother, Jim Mitchell of Rensselaer; three granddaughters, Jennifer (T.J.) Whitfield of Clearwater, KS, Brandy (Dennis) Wynkopp of Lowell, Shannon (Clay) Crawford of Carmel; and five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kara, Ella, Gavin, and Conley. Visitation will be from 2 pm until 4 pm (ET) Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will follow at 4pm (ET) with Rev. Dana Hood officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Great Lakes Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
