Elsworth H. Eller

Elsworth H. Eller, 94, of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.


He was born on October 10, 1927 in Chicago to the late Paul and Ruth (Ammann) Eller. His marriage was to the former Betty Jean Lange. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1999.


Elsworth served in the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago. Elsworth worked for ADT (American District Telegraph) Company, starting out as a security guard from which he retired as a supervisor. He enjoyed working on cars and was an excellent electrician. Elsworth enjoyed time with his family. He was a good father and always offered good advice and direction. He was strict, but very loving.


He is survived by two daughters, Dianne R. McDonough of Des Plaines, IL and Debbie Heinze of Oswego, IL; one son, Dan (Debbie) Eller of Elgin, IL; two grandchildren, Michael (Amy) McDonough, Roxane (Thomas) Bradshaw; four grandchildren, Kathryn McDonough, Matthew McDonough, Drake Bradshaw and Calder Bradshaw.


He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Heisman.


Memorial services celebrating Elsworth's life will be at 1:30 pm (EDT) Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Harold Rutledge officiating.


Burial will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer.


Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello United Methodist Soup for the Soul. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
