Edwin W. 'Ed' Grist

Edwin W. "Ed" Grist, 68, of Monticello, passed away at 3:07 am, Sunday, July 6, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his wife and daughter. Ed bravely battled cancer for more than thirty-five years. He was born on December 14, 1945 in Kokomo to the late Edwin B. and Anna (McCoy) Grist. On November 15, 1996 at the Christian Church in Tetersburg he married Christenia "Teny" Grist, and she survives. Ed was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School and served in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from Delco Electronics as a stock chaser. He owned A2Z Home Inspections in Monticello, and also owned and operated ETM Properties with his wife. He was a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and was past president of the Indiana Chapter. He was also a member of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce, Monticello Kiwanis Club, Lafayette Realtors Association, and also the White County Board of Realtors. He enjoyed remodeling houses in his spare time. He enjoyed the lake, his Corvette, his Harley Davidson, and most of all, he cherished his family and time spent with them. Surviving in addition to his wife, Teny is his daughter, Mollie Putman (fianc, Adam Stanley) of Monticello; a sister, Jimmie Riddle of Ocala, Florida; and three grandchildren, Madelyn, Lillian, and Hannah. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Max Grist Sr. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officating. Private burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the White County Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
