Dorothy J. Schroeder, 88, of Monticello, passed away at 9:11 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on October 17, 1925 in White County to the late Raymond C. and Minnie(Rickard) Farmer. On February 16, 1947 she married Herman E. Schroeder at the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and he survives in Monticello. Mrs. Schroeder was a 1943 graduate of Monticello High School. She was a homemaker and helped with the farm. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds where she taught Sunday School for several years. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of the Charming Chatties Homemaker Club. She enjoyed quilting and helped make the quilts that were auctioned off at the church. She loved to play euchre and to travel. Mrs. Schroeder was proud of her two five generation family photos. She is survived by four sons, Steven D. Schroeder of Monticello, Michael W. (Sharon) Schroeder of Reynolds, William (Denise) Schroeder of Reynolds, Donald M. Schroeder of Reynolds; one daughter, Jeanne (Eric) Blake of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Susan (Eddie) Strasser of Logansport; a son-in-law, Bruce White of Linden; two sister-in-laws, Adele Godlove of Arizona, Elizabeth Haygood of Yeoman; and a brother-in-law, John Schoenradt of Logansport; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Noreen F. White; three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Funeral service will be Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. James Lutheran Church or to the St. James Lutheran Church Daycare.
