Dorothy 'Dottie' Jean Shireman

Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Shireman, 71, of Monticello, passed away at 9:19 am, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.She was born on April 19, 1944 in Berwyn, Illinois to the late John and Gladys (Stockham) Robb. On November 19, 1970 she married Reginald "Reg" Shireman in Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death September 5, 2014 .She graduated high school in Cicero, IL. and worked part time as Jail Matron at the White County Jail. She was a member of the FOP Auxiliary, was associated with the White County Welcome Wagon, and had a Presbyterian heritage.She enjoyed knitting, bunco, and the drama crime series, Blue Bloods. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren.Dottie was a homebody who enjoyed living a quiet and peaceful life. She had her special routines and one very important routine was hair day. Dottie is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. (Doug) Colliver of Martinsville; son, John (Becca) Shireman of Monticello; brother, Douglas (Wanda) Robb of Florida; grandchildren, Heather, Rece, Elizabeth, and Carson; and a great-grandson, Colton.She was also preceded in death by her brother, Billy.Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating Dottie's life at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Close family friend Jay Janke will officiate services.Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F.
