Dora Louise Slaney, 83, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her residence in Monticello.
She was born on December 14, 1940 in Black Oak, Indiana to the late James and Pauline (Vincent) Roark. On November 4, 1959 she married Gene Slaney in Schererville. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1997.
Dora was a 1958 graduate of Calument High School. She was primarily a homemaker. She worked outside the home later in life, working at Sanders Grocery Store, Wendy's and Burger King. Dora enjoyed watching game shows, especially Jeopardy and enjoyed history and watching the history channel.
She is survived by son, Gene A. (Lisa) Slaney of Monticello; daughter, Cheryl Sass of Mountain View, Arkansas; brothers, James (Carol) Roark of Schererville and Richard (Michelle) Roark of Lowell; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Rose and brother, John Roark.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 11am to time of funeral services celebrating Dora's life at 1pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monticello.
