Donna Jean Rice

Donna Jean Rice, 78, of Monon, died at 10:10 pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at her residence. She was born May 11, 1934 in Monon to the late Ulva L. and Jennie (Lowry) Goble. Her marriage was to Robert Rice on August 25, 1951 in Monon. He survives in Monon. She attended Monon High School. Mrs. Rice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. She was a homemaker, fine cook and loved her family. She especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to work in her flower garden, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She is also survived by 2 sons, Michael L. (Elizabeth) Rice of Monticello, Gary G. (Connie) Rice of Monon; Daughter, Nancy (Patrick) Scroggs of Conesville, IA; 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Goble. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm, Friday, August 17 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10am with Rev. Thomas Albaum officiating. Burial will be private at Bedford Cemetery.
