Dean A. Williams, 79, of Monticello, passed away at 12:25pm, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital.He was born on September 30, 1938 in Gary to the late Lawrence E. and Mary (McKinney) Williams. On May 4, 1963 he married Carol Fredregill at the United Methodist Church in Griffith and she survives.Dean was a graduate of Griffith High School and a 1960 graduate of Purdue University School of Agriculture. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966.He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church where he played on the dart ball team. He farmed for ten years and was an independent trucking contractor for the Indianapolis Star for 30 years. He was an antique tractor enthusiast and also enjoyed working on tractors. He also enjoyed reading, history, and genealogy.Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol, are his children, Mary Audrey (Don) Anderson of Monticello, Margy Jean Boyer of Monticello, and Larry Dean (Tonya) Williams of Lake Cicott; sister, Janet Williams of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren, Julie Kestle, Jon (Heather) Kestle, Adam (Hope) Kestle, Felicia Pegues, Audrey Pegues, Cindy Williams, and Clay Williams; great-grandsons, Cameron, Garrett, Blaine, Payton, Zachary, Andrew, and Jaxson; step-grandchildren, Andrea, Travis, Shelby, Samantha, Nathan, and Katie; and eleven step-great-grandchildren.Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.Funeral services celebrating Dean's life will be at 11am, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Brian Beeks of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating.Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery with military rites rendered there.Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello United Methodist Church or to the White County Historical Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence may be extended online at www.springerfuneralhome.com
