David Lee Johns, 43, of Monticello, passed away at his residence. He was born on August 6, 1971 in Monticello. He was a 1989 graduate of Twin Lakes High School. He attended Grace Community Baptist Church. He was a 2nd degree member of the Monticello Moose and a former member of the Redmen's Lodge. He enjoyed computer games including internet games, and reading. Above all, he loved spending time with his son Hunter. He is survived by his parents, Mary Ella (step-father, David) Brickey of Monticello, Roy (step-mother, Helen) Johns of Monticello; son, Hunter Flores of Monticello; grandmother, Violet Johns of Monticello; two brothers, Richard Lucas Johns of Hollywood, FL, Rodney Allen Johns of Reynolds; sister, Levera Marie Gross of Buffalo; five step-brothers, Richard Foulks of Monticello, Christopher Foulks of Monticello, Jacob Foulks of Lafayette, David Brickey, Jr. of Brookston, Darryl (Kelly) Brickey of Kokomo; step-sister, Amber Foulks of Monticello; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Levera (Bryant) Dye, and Orla "Pete" Johns. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Roberts of Grace Community Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the family with envelopes available at the funeral home.
