Clarence Birch

Clarence E. Birch, 89, of Delphi, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born on March 30, 1936 in Cass, IN to the late Oscar Paul and Elva M. (Williams) Birch. In 1959 he married Nancy C. Smith that later ended in divorce. On December 31, 1965, he married Betty Robinson. She preceded him in death in February of 2018 after 52 years of marriage.

After high school, Clarence joined the United States Air Force and served in Germany and the Great Lakes. He went on to work at Alcoa in Lafayette in the shipping department from where he retired in 1999 after 32 years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, attending at Brookston. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, walking, motorcycling and traveling. He had traveled to Canada and all 50 states, many of which were on motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughter, Rose M. (David) Zufall of Attica; sister, Doris (Asa "Tom") Parsley of Monticello; brother, Paul K. Birch of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren, Dusty M (Rick) Arnold, Arlis D. (Tina) Stacy; great granddaughters, Adreanna and Hannah Arnold.

In addition to his parents and wife, Betty, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Vera Mae Thompson and her husband, Lee.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Run Cemetery.
