Clara B. Lawson, 107, of Monticello passed away at her Naples, Florida residence early Thursday morning, February 27, 2014. She was born on January 22, 1907 in Boswell to the late Richard O. and Elizabeth (Muse) Vaughn. On September 25, 1926 in Lafayette, she married Robert H. Lawson and he preceded her in death February 17, 1978. She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She was a member of Chalmers Community Church, but most recently attended Monticello Christian Church. She was a fifty year member of Crystal Chapter #165 Order of Eastern Star, Monticello. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Holiday Homemaker Club, and Whites Shrine of Indianapolis. She was a colorful speaker and spoke at the Kiwanis Club on several occasions about her travel experiences. She loved to travel, collect trinkets, square dancing, and enjoyed card parties. She loved walking and walked a mile everyday. She is survived by four daughters, Betty E. Lawson-Lord of Monticello, Barbara (Jack) Meadors of Wolcott, Patsy Jo (Rev. Robert W.) Manes of Grand Rapids, MI, Shirley Ann (Jack) Krieg of South Bend; son, Robert (Sharon) Lawson of Hoffman Estates, IL; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and twenty great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. Visitation will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home from 11 am until the time of Eastern Star services at 1 pm Saturday, March 8, 2014. Funeral services will commence immediately following Eastern Star services with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's Choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
