Charles W. Hickman of Monticello, IN passed away April 2, 2025 at the age of 90.
He was born December 14, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Warren R. and Marie (Hilgedick) Hickman. He grew up in Logansport, IN where he met Judy Stewart, his wife of over 66 years. They were married on August 4, 1957 at Broadway United Methodist Church in Logansport. She preceded him in death May 14, 2024. Charlie was also preceded in death by a brother, John L. Hickman.
Charlie graduated from Logansport High School, received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and pharmacy degree from Butler University. His pharmacy career with Haag in Indianapolis, Hook’s in Logansport and Hook’s in Monticello (later Revco and now CVS) spanned 50 years.
He played baseball, basketball and tennis in high school and later enjoyed watching IU basketball and many other sports. He enjoyed time with family at home on Lake Shafer where fishing and landscaping were favorite hobbies. Memorable travel in later years included Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.
Charlie was an active member of the Monticello Kiwanis Club for over 50 years, serving two terms as president (1977-78 and 2016-17). He also served as President of the Monticello American Cancer Society in 1972 and President of Lake Shafer Property Owners Association in 1975.
Charlie is survived by son Robert Hickman of Monticello; daughters Susan Lamb of TX and Jennifer (Scott) Keller of IL; sister Judy Williamson of Logansport; brothers Warren (Peggy) Hickman of IN and William (Patty) Hickman of TN; grandchildren Brian (Nichole), David (Ashley), Amanda (James), Kaden (Alexiss), Ryan (Erin), and Aaron; great-grandchildren Kylie, Isaac, Knox, Jacob, Ethan, Theodore, Remy, Eleanor, two more on the way, plus several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, from 11am until services begin at 1pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello with Pastor Candice Hinkle, Rev. Dr. Marian Stewart (niece), and Rev. Dr. Peggy Hickman (sister-in-law) officiating.
Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery.
