Charles E. "Charlie" Yawn, 59, of Monticello, passed away at 6:02 am, Monday, June 8, 2015 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on January 22, 1956 in Orlando, FL to the late Thomas Yawn and Lora (Raipe) Willey. On August 23, 1997 he married Linda Altman and she survives. He was a truck driver and worked for Fleetmaster Express, Inc. based out of Monticello. Charlie was a member of the Monticello Eagles. He enjoyed playing computer games on Facebook, playing Bingo, and going to the Casino. He is also survived by three children, Christina, Jennifer and Andrew, all of Michigan; two brothers, Ernie (Tina) Yawn of Union, MO, Michael (Shari) Yawn of Spring Lake, NC; sister, Jackie (Scott) Griswold of Spring Lake, NC; four grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Verna Perriello; brothers, William, Douglas, John, and Thomas Yawn. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 4pm until 8pm, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. An Eagles service will be at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Eagles to benefit Riley Children's Hospital Cancer Research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
