Carl E. Isonhart

Carl Edmund Isonhart passed away on the morning of February 20, 2024. At the time of his
passing he was living in his beloved home of Monticello, Indiana. He was 83 years of age.

Carl was born in Evanston, Illinois, on October 23, 1940 to Carl F. and Edna (Phillips) Isonhart.
A few years later the family welcomed Carl’s little brother, James (Jimmy) into the family.
He attended St. George high school, during which time he actually got to see Bill Haley and his
Comets!

Carl proudly served as a Marine from 1959 to 1963. He was honorably discharged from service,
but also spent years trying to figure out why he ever left the Marines. His time serving the
country with the Marines continued to be a period of great pride and love for the rest of his life.
Anybody who spent time with Carl was regaled with story after story of his time in service.
Carl spent many years building model trains and model tanks. His knowledge of trains, tanks,
and World War II should have led him to being a writer, or even one of the talking heads on the
History Channel. Carl had started to wonder why he never chose this path, but questioned if he
was a writer.

The size of Carl’s family was immense, as he didn’t just see his blood relatives as family, but
also his friends and co-workers. He treated all as if he had known them for the entirety of his
life, and had a rapport with everybody that included many jokes and constant smiles and laughs.

Carl is survived by his children, Kristine Isonhart and Carl (Kristy) Isonhart; his grandchildren,
Scott Radford (Alexi Peters), Sam Rosner (Chris Hidaka), Bethany Rosner (Luke Habeeb),
Haven Rosner, Halston Isonhart-Carter, Kayleigh Isonhart (Steven Allen), and Zach Isonhart; his
great grandson, Elliot Hidaka, and his nephew Jason Isonhart. He is also survived by his close
friend Judith Zook, her family of Carrie Kendall, Bryan Burrough, Todd Burrough and their
children.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Edna Isonhart and his brother, James.

Arrangements are pending and entrusted with Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
