Captain Timothy I. Mcgovern

Captain Timothy McGovern, 28, formerly of Idaville, was killed in action October 31, 2007 while leading his troops in Mosul, Iraq. He was born December 5, 1978 in Frankfort Germany. The son of William P. and Jonell M. (Wright) McGovern of Idaville. He was a 1997 graduate of Twin Lakes High School where he participated in football and track. He enjoyed shooting sports and was an Eagle Scout. Captain McGovern was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army upon Graduation from Purdue University in 2001. He completed his Masters Degree at Webster University in Missouri. This was his second tour of duty where he was the Commander of a Combat Engineer Company. Other survivors include: Sister, Miranda (Christopher) Chenoweth of Colorado Springs, CO; Grandparents, Dee and Calvin Wright of Monticello, IN, Paul C. McGovern of Indianapolis , IN. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Martha McGovern. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A funeral mass for family only will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2007 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Father Fintan Cummings will officaiate the funeral mass. Burial will be in Idaville Cemetery. Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting Tim to be remembered through the Fisher House Foundation. A Fisher House is a "home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and Veterans Administration Medical Centers. The Fisher Houses are usually built within walking distance of the military treatment facility. There are currently 28 Fisher Houses at 18 medical centers.
