Buel Marcum

Buel Marcum, 94, of Monticello, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2:55 pm in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. He was born November 27, 1912 in Manchester, KY to the late Taylor Gilbert Marcum and the late Margaret Nancy (Roberts) Marcum. He married Manda L. Peart on April 16, 1955 at Kankakee County, Illinois. She died April 17, 1989 Mr. Marcum was a graduate of Salem High School, Salem, IN. He was a cabinet maker, and had been a supervisor in several factories over the years. He enjoyed gardening and bee keeping. According to his daugheter Nancy A. Davidson, "He was the sweetest most gracious person, and he never said a bad word about anyone. If you knew him, you loved him. His spiritual walk with God was first." Memorials may be made to Sitka Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association. Memorial donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Survivors: 2 Sons, Byron T. (Tommy) Marcum of Monticello, IN; 5 Sisters, Audrey Funk of Monticello, IN, Inez Criswell of Monticello, IN, Mary Alice (Jim) Pickett of Idaville, IN, Sylvania Marcum of Monticello, IN, Ethel (Lew) Mullins of Jenison, MI; Many grandchildren; Many Great-Grandchildren; He was preceded in Death by his Parents; Wife; Son: Gary L. Marcum; Brothers: Cecil Marcum, and infant brother Claude Suel Marcum; Sister: Mildred Hopkins; Grandson: Peter Ruskin. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm , Sunday, April 15 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be officiated by Dr. James Elliot at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, on Monday, April 16, 2007, at 10 am. Burial will be at the Hughes Cemetery near Monticello.
