Brian “Butter” Dale Perry, 56, of Chalmers, IN passed away on May 12, 2026, at his home alongside his wife after a heroic battle against cancer.
Brian was born on July 26, 1969 in Lafayette, IN to Glenn and Carole (Trost) Perry of Reynolds, IN. On August 15, 1992, he married his high school sweetheart, Christi Zerth, at the Sitka Baptist Church. According to Brian, she “cuffed a legend” that day. She survives and supported him tirelessly throughout his journey.
With a personality as big as his stature, Brian was known for his positive spirit and upbeat attitude. He loved his girls and adored the newest addition to the family - his grandson and “little cowboy” Morrison. From visits to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during race month, cheering on the Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, or enjoying a round of golf, Brian truly loved sports. He especially loved fishing with the Benakovich boys and spending evenings around a campfire with friends and family. Brian always looked forward to the White County Fair, where he volunteered and made some of his fondest memories showing livestock alongside his daughters. Some of his most cherished moments were the family trips to Florida - and he often reminisced about past vacations or started planning the next one. He loved and was loved equally by his friends and family. And every now and then, he certainly enjoyed a cold Miller Lite too.
Brian was a 1987 graduate of North White High School whereafter he served in the United States Marine Corps prior to becoming a Journeyman Electrician. He was a member of IBEW 668 of Lafayette and worked at Oerlikon, Arconic, and Evonik throughout the years. It was in his days as an electrician where he garnered the nickname “Butter” for his smooth, but hardworking hands. He was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church and remained close and connected with the Lord during his fearless battle with cancer.
In addition to his parents and wife, Christi, he is survived by his daughters, Shelbi (Jarret) Proctor of Conrad, IA, Haley Perry of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Morrison Proctor; brothers, Brad (Kathy) Perry of Columbus, OH, and Brett Perry of Valparaiso, IN.
