Brenda L. Metcalf

Brenda L. Metcalf, 71, of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

She was born on October 16, 1951 in Lebanon to the late Harry W. "Bus" and Jean (Caldwell) Voorhis.  Her first marriage was to Ed Carver. She then married Russell Metcalf and he preceded her in death.

Brenda was a 1970 graduate of Twin Lakes High School.

She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church where she served on the finance committee, helped with Soup for the Soul, funeral dinners, and counted the offering at church.

She was a homemaker when the children were younger.  Brenda worked in banking in Galveston for many years. After moving back to Monticello and after the death of her husband, Russell, she worked for Monticello Healthcare, where she wore many hats before retiring as an administrative professional. She was a proud recipient of the Quest for Excellence award from Monticello Healthcare. She served on the White County Council on Aging Board. While in Galveston she served on the Volunteer Fire Department, Park Board, as a Lewis Cass Band Booster, and was a Girl Scout Leader.

Brenda loved cross stitching, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and playing cards with her family.  She enjoyed lunch with her friends and classmates, listening to music and "car dancing", and drives around the lakes. She cherished her family and was a loving mother and nana.

Surviving are her daughters, Monica Macias of Galveston and Kimberly (Chris) Reed of Kokomo; sister, Angie (Ken) Dyer of Monticello; brother-in-law, Eukie J Stangle of Monticello;  grandchildren, Baileigh Macias, Chloe Sease, Jackson Reed, Jace Macias, Sydney Sease and Mackenzie Reed; great-granddaughter, Joanna Little; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Jennifer.

In addition to her parents, Harry and Jean Voorhis and husband, Russell Metcalf, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pamela and Rhonda; brother-in-law Richard Myers; and step mother, Pat Voorhis.
