Betty L. Allen

Betty L. Allen, 79, of Monticello, passed away at 2:00 am on September 1, 2013 at the Monticello Assisted Living and Health Care. She was born on August 28, 1934 in Rose Hill, Virginia. Betty worked at RCA and then she worked in housekeeping at White County Memorial Hospital. She helped care for Rev. and Mrs. Ross in their senior years. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She had been member of the Rebekahs formerly of Monticello. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Dan) Hettinger of Monticello and Glenda "Gege" Peterson of AZ; brother, Charles (Emma) Long; sister, Lucille Long; five grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Gilbert; and sister, Norma Washam. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1pm, Thursday, September 5 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Elder Ken Hall officiating.
