Betty J. Brady, 85, of Monticello, entered into eternal rest and peace at 7:08 pm, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 surrounded by loving family. Betty passed away at White Oak Health Campus, where she resided since January of this year, battling the end stages of Parkinson's Disease. She married Lon Brady April 12, 1947 in Franklin, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2013. She was a 1946 graduate of Bloomington High School and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church where she enjoyed serving and supporting the many ministries of the church. She was a charter member of the Elkettes and a member of the Mother's Bible Study Club both of Logansport. Betty enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading and watching westerns, traveling and wintering in Texas, but mostly, cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Sheron Shafer of Walton, Scott (Mary) Brady of Logansport, Judy (Rick) Sweet of Monticello; sister, Patsy Thomas of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Kim (Troy) Robertson, Jesse (Heather) Shafer, Julie (Joel) Pepple, Wendi (Terryn) Elliott, Kristen Sweet, Angela (Eric) Clouse; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Rasberry ; and a grandson Jason Brady. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of services at 1 pm, Friday, June 27, 2012 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Doug Thompson of the Yeoman United Methodist Church officiating. Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved Lon in Yeoman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Yeoman United Methodist Church or to Guardian Angel Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
