Bettie Lou (Kyburz) Hunt, 83, of Idaville, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2022 surrounded by her husband and family.


Bettie was born on May 30, 1939 to Levi and Emma Jean Kyburz in rural Idaville, Carroll County, IN. Bettie attended Carson Grade School in Carroll County and graduated as valedictorian in 1957 from Idaville High School. On February 21, 1959, she married Jim E. Hunt in the original Monticello Christian Church on Bluff Street. He survives.


She is also survived by her three children, Debbie (David) McClaine of Monticello, David (Flo) Hunt of Idaville, and Donna (Russ) DeArmond of Remington; grandchildren, Polly (Gabe) Deno, Heidi Funk, Tyler (Relisa) Funk, Alicia Hayden (Cameron Fischer) and Tanner Hayden; siblings, Eugene Kyburz, Jody (Doran) Wallace, and Doug (Billie) Kyburz; numerous great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren.


Bettie had worked at Prudential Insurance, White County REMC, and the Homestead. She retired from Twin Lakes School Corporation. In her spare time, she gave piano lessons. Bettie previously attended Pious Chapel Church, but currently attended and was a member of Sitka Baptist Church where she was a pianist.


Bettie had a passion for giving, always thinking of others before herself. She loved to cook and bake and made sure no one ever went home hungry! Besides her love for her family, she had a deep love for the Lord and prayed and encouraged others to pray for the weak.


Visitation will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.


Funeral services celebrating Bettie’s life will be at the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 am with Dr. Jim Elliott officiating.


Burial will follow in Idaville Cemetery, Idaville.


Memorial contributions may be given to Sitka Baptist Church or to the family for care giving services.
