Barbara E. Hintzman, 80, of Monticello died at 8:25 pm, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at I. U. White Memorial Hospital. She was born November 11, 1931 in Gary to the late Harry Daniel Smith, I and Mildred (Moore) Smith. Her marriage was to Clemens Hintzman on September 19, 1950 at Saint James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. He preceded her in death February 28, 1977. She is a 1950 graduate of Monticello High School. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. She enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed playing euchre. She was a loyal Dodgers fan and delighted in watching sports on television, especially college basketball and football. If she was unable to watch sports on television, she would settle for the radio. She cherished time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Tony) Logan of Monticello, Janet (Bill) Wakeland of Rensselaer, and Nancy (Carl) Bandy of Mooresville, North Carolina; a sister, JoAnn (Ralph) Sharkey; seven grandchildren, Susan and Stephanie Wakeland, Sara (Nick) Cooley, Angela, Ryan, Shaun, and Matthew Logan; and 3 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Daniel Smith, II. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm (EDT), Friday, September 14, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 11 am (EDT), Saturday, September 15, at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Reynolds. Memorial contributions may be given to Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. You may sign the online guestbook at www.springerfuneralhome.com
