Audrey L. Valleskey

Audrey Valleskey of Monticello, died at 3:15 pm, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on December 9, 1927 and was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Weber. She was given a Christian education on the elementary, high school and college levels. Her teaching certificate was earned from Concordia University, River Forest Illinois in 1948. Her graduation from Concordia was a lifelong dream to become a Christian elementary school teacher. In 1949 she married her loving husband, Roman C. Valleskey, who preceded her in death after almost 55 years of marriage. Audrey was privileged to teach young children from kindergarten to grade 5 in numerous parish Lutheran elementary schools in Wisconsin. Her love for children and for teaching was fulfilled in 29 years of dedicated service. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Audrey was a Sunday School teacher, cheerleading advisor, choir member, and served on the South Wisconsin Teachers' Conference Board. She was also a fulltime mother of three children, Barbara, James and Michael, all of whom followed in her footsteps and served as Christian school teachers. Since 1989, Audrey experienced numerous serious health problems, but with the love and care of her Lord, she was given healing. She delighted in attending worship services and Bible classes, in most recent years at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Delphi. She counted it as great joy to remind everyone that Jesus loves you. Audrey is survived by her three children, Barbara (John) Westfall of Monticello, James (Paula) of St. Charles, IL, and Michael (Debbie) of Hoffman Estates, IL. Her grandchildren include Jamie (Chad Troyer), Casey, Jessica, Kenlee, Christopher (Krista), Jordan, Brittany and Austin. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Hilda Valleskey, and several nieces and nephews that gave her great joy to keep in touch with. Visitation will be from 1:00 (EDT) pm until the time of services at 4:00 (EDT) pm, Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with John Westfall officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Delphi, Concordia University in Chicago, or to Milwaukee Lutheran High School Association.
