Arthur Moore, 100, of Monticello, passed away peacefully at 8:47 am, Monday, February 14, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 9, 1921 in Pulaski County to the late Harley David and Ellen (Riggs) Moore. He married Lauretta Jean (Yeater) on June 28, 1952 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 1978. He was later united in marriage to the former Joyce (Wilken) Ecklund on April 2, 1988 and she survives.
Art was a graduate of Monterey High School and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a life long farmer. He also worked at Chesebrough Ponds and RCA.
He enjoyed cross stitch, reading, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. He and his wife, Joyce enjoyed wintering in Arizona including the many travels along the way. At the age of 100, including his last day, his memory was sharp and brilliant.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Monticello; son, Harley "Tom" (Diana) Moore of Monticello; stepchildren, Marsha (Bill) Hahnke of AZ, Edward (Cindy) Ecklund of Logansport, Dawn (Dan) Mikels of Lafayette; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and six step grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Lauretta he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy I. Moore; six brothers an a sister.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services celebrating Art's life will immediately follow visitation with Pastor, Ian McMillan officiating.
Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery with full military rites.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the First Baptist Church of Monticello with envelopes available at the funeral home.
