April Church

April S. Church, 58, of Monticello, passed away at 7:30 am, Sunday, May 17, 2015 at her residence. She was born on June 3, 1956 in Jacksonville, IL to the late Harry Lindquist and Parmelia (Westnedge) Lindquist. Her mother survives in Covington. On June 7, 1986 she married Tommy Church in West Lafayette and he survives. April graduated from Covington High School. She went on to Purdue University graduating with a B.A. degree in Physical Education and Health, and a B.S. degree in Mathematics. She graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana receiving a Masters Degree in Education. April served in the United States Army form 1976 until 1980, where she was a recreational specialist. She then served in the National Guard Company B 113th Medical Battalion in Boswell as a combat medic achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was a an active member of the Zion Bethel Church for twenty years. Mrs. Church taught math at Twin Lakes School Corporation from which she retired. She assisted with the Math Counts Academic Bowl and sponsored a juggling club both at Twin Lakes High School. She was an avid supporter of Twin Lakes sports. April was an empathetic being and treated others as ends in themselves. She is also survived by a son, Matthew Church (Partner, Olivia Jones) of Monticello; brothers, Michael, Tommy Jr., and Dwayne Lindquist; sisters, Spring Noah and Darlene Dobson; and a grandson, Atticus B. Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Church; and brothers, John and Robert Lindquist. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Pastor and longtime friend, Rev. Jeff Messer of the Zion Bethel Church will officiate services. Memorial contributions may be given to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
