Alma West

Alma T. West, 92, resident of Monticello, passed away, Saturday, April 7, 2018. Alma was born December 31, 1925, in Garden City, KS. She lived in Wichita, KS. with her husband Richard I. West, until his death in 1980. She then moved closer to her daughter's family in Indiana. Alma played the piano and organ in various churches from the age of 12 years old. She also liked to read, work crossword puzzles, and play games. She enjoyed many forms of needlework including, knitting, embroidery, crochet and quilting. She volunteered with various organizations, the American Legion, the Veteran's Hospital, the library, the White County Food Pantry, and tutoring children at school.Alma will be sadly missed by her three children, Andrew (Debbie) West, Sylvia (Emerson Jack) Downing, and William West, and her 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated at a later date at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 601 S. Kenton St., Reynolds, IN, with Father John Cummings presiding.Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or the White County Food Pantry, 1856 N. Francis Street, Monticello, IN.
