Ruth Louise Dahlenburg, 80, a lifelong resident of Reynolds, passed away suddenly on the evening of December 24, 2011 at I.U. White Memorial Hospital. She was born April 16, 1931 to the late Walter and Fara (Schultz) Jennings. Ruth married Dale Dahlenburg on September 20, 1953 in the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds, and he survives. Ruth was a devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, in particular the Womens Missionary League, in which she held various offices throughout her 25 years of service. She and sister-in-law, Helen Dahlenburg, were especially active in preparation of the churchs annual German Supper/Bazaar. She also served as president of the church alter guild since its inception 25 years ago. For many years, Ruth also worked in the salad department at the Sky Room at Indiana Beach with Eunice Westfall. In her later life, she and husband, Dale, took many wonderful sightseeing trips, including a train trip to the National Parks out west and a cruise to Alaska. Ruth enjoyed gardening, quilting/sewing, and baking cookies that her grandchildren will always remember! In addition to her husband, Dale, she is survived by three daughters, Susan (Steve) Kindig of Brook, Debbie (Bill) Morris of Fayetteville, GA, Julie (Mel) Denton of Pendleton; son, Kirk (Tracie) Dahlenburg of Monticello; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Don (Nancy) Jennings, Fred Jennings, Ralph (Linda) Jennings; sister, Zelda Jennings all of Monticello. Her sister, Shirley Jennings preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Wednesday, December 28 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Reynolds.
