Ruth A. Sheek, 58, of Monticello, passed away at 1:25 am, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born on January 22, 1955 in Lafayette to the late Harold Thomas and Pearl (Godwin) Thomas Beasy. On November 3, 1973 she married John A. Sheek, II at the First Baptist Church in Monon and he survives. She was a graduate of North White High School and was a Homemaker. When she was younger, she attended the Methodist Church in Monon where she and her sister sang in the church choir. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Monon. She was proud of getting her children through high school and getting one to college. She loved and adored her six beautiful grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening. She was a cancer survivor and active supporter of Relay for Life. She is also survived by a son, Steven Sheek (fianc, Christina Morlan ) of Lafayette; two daughters, Kati ( husband, Buddy) Wicker of Monticello, Cassie (husband, Shane) Tate of Lafayette; sister, Janet Pigecella of Monticello; and six grandchildren, Austin Jensen, Kallie Hunter, Cadence Hunter, Riddick Sheek, Grinner Wicker, and Dylan Wicker. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Smith of Hickory Grove Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bedford Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to any White County Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences can be given at www.springerfuneralhome.com.
