Richard 'Rich' Anderson

Richard "Rich" Anderson, 73 of Monticello, died at 4:15 am, Thursday, December 30, 2010, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette. He was born December 18, 1937 at Rock Island, Illinois. On September 23, 1966 he married Saundra Lee at Washington D.C. She survives. He served in United States Navy until his retirement. During the last three years of his Navy career he served as ROTC sophomore instructor at Purdue University. After his Navy retirement, he worked as a postal carrier in Lafayette. He was a member of the American Legion, Navy Club, and AmVets. Other survivors include a son, Dale (Lisa) Anderson of Lafayette; daughters, Hollie (Marty) Horn of Lafayette, Tracie (Craig) Baxter of Fullerton, California, Kimberly (Vince) Martincich of Yeoman; sisters, Joan Hollon of Rock Island, Illinois, Carol Miller of Rock Island, Illinois, Marlene Penne of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Gary Boyd of Washington State, Alvin Wilson of Moline, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Hibst) Wilson; father, Virgil Anderson; sisters, Deloris Titus, Sharon Reynolds and Lillian Jackson. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society. In honor of Richs wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no public services.
