Myrtle F. McLain, 91, of Monon, died at 5:30pm on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at her residence. She was born on February 8, 1920 in White County to the late Albert A. and Louise (Slonskowski) Snavley. Her marriage was to the late Charles Herman McLain on March 18, 1938 in White County. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2000. Mrs. McLain lived in White County most of her life. She was president of the Auxillary Wives of the Monon Volunteer Fireman. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Mrs. McLain owned and operated Myrt's Restaurant in Monon. She enjoyed making wedding cakes, cooking and crocheting. She is survived by 2 sons, Charles W. (Faye) McLain, Kenly, North Carolina, John A. (June) McLain of Monon; three Grandchildren, six great grandchildren. She is preceded death by a son, two brothers and seven sisters. Graveside services will take place at Buffalo Cemetery at 1 pm, Wednesday with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Cemetery.
