Mabel J. Haygood, 78, of Monticello, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 11, 1942 in White County. On July 8, 1961 she married Marvin Haygood at the Guernsey Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2015.
Mabel was a homemaker. She always said that her greatest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren and she cherished time spent with them. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. Mabel liked to bird watch and loved animals. She rehabilitated wild animals for DNR.
She was a member of Guernsey Church of the Brethren where she served as a Deaconess and was a member of the Women's Fellowship.
Surviving are her sons, Scott Haygood (wife, D'anne Hoscheid) of Monticello, Robert (wife, Faye) Haygood of Bruceville, and Les Haygood of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, David, Sarah and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her mother Alma and her step-father, Lee Lawson; siblings, Morris E. Burns, Helen Landrum, and Jim Harlan; and son, Danny Lee Haygood.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Funeral services celebrating Mabel's life will be at 11 am, Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Tomson of Guernsey Church of the Brethren officiating.
Under current COVID 19 state mandates, masks are required.
Burial will follow in the Idaville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Guernsey Church of the Brethren. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
