Leo Joseph "Joe" Altman, 88, of Idaville, passed away on July 15, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on June 10, 1932 in Reynolds to the late John and Mary (Hasley) Altman. He married Grace Bowsher on April 12, 1972 and she preceded him in death in 1999. He married the former Peggy Hunt on November 12, 2000 and she survives in Idaville.
Joe served in the Army during the Korean War in 1952. He worked at RCA in Monticello until it closed.
He was a member of Bell Center Church and belonged to the VFW. He enjoyed working with his hands and spent many hours doing carpenter work. He loved working on large, complicated jigsaw puzzles, mowing his yard, and eating ice cream. His son Leo "Pete" Altman and he did many things together.
In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by his children, Leo "Pete" Altman of Idaville, Michael "Mike" Altman of Monticello, Edward Joe Altman (companion, Carla) of Idaville, Sue (Frank) Arthur of Monticello, Judy (Pat) Peters of Idaville, Deb (Irvin) Arthur of Monticello; step children, Keith Jackson of North Carolina, Tammy (Vince) Jeffries of Monticello, Gregory Jackson of Monticello; siblings, Laurine (Tom) Pritts of Burnettsville, Loretta Snavely of Monticello, Ted Altman of Burnettsville, Bernie (Dinie) Altman of Burnettsville; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers John D. and Herb Altman and sister Lenora Gallinger.
Graveside services will be Monday, July 20, 2020 at 10:30 am at Idaville Cemetery with Pastor Ed Roller. Military rites will be rendered.
Memorial donations may be offered to Wounded Warriors.
