Jean Ann Birch, 50, of Monon, died at 8:38 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center of Zion, Illinois. She was born December 28, 1961 in Middletown, Ohio. Her mother, Joanna Clevenger survives in Haines City Florida. Her marriage was to Steve A. Birch on December 22, 1984 in Cliff, New Mexico, and he survives. Jean received her Bachelor's of Arts Degree majoring in computer science from Western New Mexico University. She was member of Monon First Baptist Church where her husband Pastors and she served in various capacities. She had been a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School Teacher, lead Sunday and Wednesday Bible studies, was a youth leader, sang in the church choir, and was involved with the fellowship team. She was a hospitable person who opened her home to others. She loved to serve. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of people. She had served on the Monon and Monon Township Public Library Board. She worked as a Librarian at Monon and Monon Township Public Library. She also worked as the Pastor's secretary at Monon First Baptist Church. Also surviving are two sons, Ryan (Kimberly) Birch of Chicago, Stephen (Diep) Birch of Indianapolis; daughter, Mercy Jean Birch at home; three brothers, Mike (Tammy) Clevenger, John (Michelle) Clevenger, Joe (Kim) Clevenger; three sisters, Jane Smith, Debbie Kothe, Christy (Doug) Wood; and two grandchildren, Adela and Adam Birch. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Edward Clevenger; mom, Cathy (Bollinger) Vaughn; and a sister Joan Clevenger. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Friday, February 17 at Monon First Baptist Church. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Funeral services will be at 11am, Saturday at Monon First Baptist Church. Rev. Duane Abston will officiate. Burial will follow at Monon Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Monon First Baptist Church or to Monon and Monon Township Public Library. Envelopes will be available at the church.
