James A. 'Jim' Staley

James A. "Jim" Staley, Sr., 75, of Monticello died at 5:36 pm, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health East in Lafayette . He was born July 10, 1936 in Chicago to the late James A. Wilson and the late Elsie (Getzlaff) Staley. He married the former Barbara Price-Edwards at the First Baptist Church in Monticello on November 1, 1997, and she survives. Mr. Staley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monticello and supported the church in many ways. He was a graduate of Bowen High School in Chicago . He retired in 1991 after 37 years as a training supervisor at Commonwealth Edison, State Line Generating Station. He was a member of the Moose. He was a classic car enthusiast, especially, of Ford Automobiles. Jim was very mechanical and enjoyed restoring cars. He enjoyed sunshine, warm weather, and wintering in Florida . He also enjoyed gardening, bicycling, History, car magazines, and critiquing food. Also surviving are two daughters, Rose (Robert) Oljace of Dyer, Linda (Marcus) Jordan of Dyer; son, James A. (Helen) Staley, Jr. of Whiting; two step- sons, Randy W. (Susie) Price of Monticello, Scot (Becky) Price of Delphi; son-in-law, Ronald Powell of Monticello ; brother, Charles E. (Valerie) Staley of Burr Ridge, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Edward Staley; daughter, Debra Powell; and a great grandson. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm (EDT), Friday, August 26 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home located at 202 S. Illinois St., Monticello , IN 47960. Friends may also call hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, located at 409 Beach Dr ., Monticello , IN 47960 Funeral services will be at 3 pm (EDT) Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev.
