Herman E. Schroeder

Herman E. Schroeder, 92, of Monticello, passed away at 12:30 pm, Friday, May 4, 2018 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.He was born on February 10, 1926 in White County to the late Frederick M. and Marie M. (Snyder) Schroeder. On February 16, 1947, he married Dorothy J. Farmer at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2014. Mr. Schroeder was a 1944 graduate of Chalmers High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He became a farmer in the Reynolds area in 1946 and retired from farming in 1988. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds where he taught Sunday School and served in various positions for several years. In some of his retirement years he and his wife spent winters in Sebring and Ft. Myers, Florida. He loved to play euchre and to travel. He is survived by four sons, Steven D. Schroeder of Monticello, Michael W. (Sharon) Schroeder of Reynolds, William (Denise) Schroeder of Reynolds, Donald M. Schroeder of Reynolds; one daughter, Jeanne (Eric) Blake of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Richard D. (Marlene) Schroeder of Reynolds; son-in-law, Bruce White of Linden; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Noreen F. White. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 10 am until the time of services at noon at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating..Burial will follow at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran Church.
