George D. Snowberger

George D. Snowberger, 73, of Monticello, formerly of Reynolds, died at 3:27 pm Saturday August 6, 2011, in the Emergency Room, at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1938 in Monticello to the late Raymond Andrew and Florence (Shockey) Snowberger. On December 15, 1957, in Remington he married the former Carolyn Blackwell and she preceded him in death March 6, 2003. George worked 37 years for the White County Highway Department from which he retired, and was responsible for Union Township. He worked two jobs most of his life and had worked many years at Indiana Beach. He enjoyed gambling, golfing, but above all, enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by a son, Andrew D. (Angie) Snowberger of Romney; daughter, Tracy J. Collins of Watauga, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm, Tuesday, August 9, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization IOPO .
