Elnora McDonald, 89, of Monticello, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 13, 1925, in Stockland, IL, to the late George Alvin and Mobile E. (Wolfe) Carter. Her marriage was to Clarence "Shorty" McDonald, who preceded her in death. Elnora and her husband farmed in both Jasper and White counties. After she retired, Elnora moved to Monticello and became an avid golfer and bowler. She was a member of both the Edwood Glenn and Tippecanoe country clubs, where she is credited with two holes-in-one. She supported several organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Indiana Republican Party. She enjoyed current events, crossword puzzles and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Elnora is survived by a sister, Mary Jo Minier of Monticello; brothers, Bill (Dorothy) Carter of Hammond, Robert (Katrina) Carter of Monticello; nieces, Mary E. Minier of Monticello (companion, Bill Pyle), Cindy (Dave) Hanish of Hammond, Kim Crosby of Greenville, KY; nephews, Scott Minier of Indianapolis, Greg (Sondra) Minier of Arlington, TX, Carter (Kathy) Lohr of Winchester, KY, Brad Carter of Monticello, Danny (Barbie) Carter of Wendell, NC, Matt Carter of Monticello; and several great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brothers, George and Quinten Carter; sister, Rose White; nephew, Robert C. Minier Jr.; and a great nephew. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. (EDT) until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital Foundation, 720 S. Sixth St., Monticello, IN 47960. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
