Elizabeth A. "Betty" Pearson, 93, of Monticello, died at 4:32pm, Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at White Oaks Health Campus in Monticello. She was born September 30, 1917 in Kokomo to the late William J. and Myrtle (Spraker) Ward. Her marriage of 73 years was to Bernal R. Pearson on June 1, 1938 at the Methodist parsonage in Marion, IN. He survives in Monticello. She was a 1935 graduate of Liberty Center High School. Betty and her husband owned and operated Standard Oil Agency in Monticello. Betty was the bookkeeper and dispatcher for the company, with both retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful church member. She taught childrens Sunday school and was involved with the circles at church. She was a 45 year member and charter member of the Gideons of Monticello. Betty was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking and taking food to the neighbors. Her grandchildren looked foward to having her cookies. Everyone loved her salads and desserts. Betty was also in Bunco club. She loved reading, swimming, boating and walking on the Gulf of Mexico. She is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl (John) Spradlin of Westerville, OH; 4 Grandsons, Douglas Pearson, Scott Pearson, Michael Pearson, Jonathan Spradlin; 4 Granddaughters, Lisa Howser, Christine McCullough, Catherine Pearson, Heather Thorpe. She is preceded in death by sons, Raymond Gene and Donald Lee Pearson; 2 brothers and 4 sisters Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, Friday, July 15 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at at 1pm with Pastor Sue Ringenbach. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to Monticello United Methodist Church.
