Donald F. Houchin, 91, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born on March 8, 1929 in Clinton, IL to the late George and Cynthia (Crutcher) Houchin. On December 16, 1951 he married Ruth Virginia "Ginny" Witten at the Methodist Church in Clinton, IL and she survives.
Don was a graduate of Clinton High School and then served in the Army. He worked as the superintendent of automotive underwriting for State Farm Insurance from which he retired after 44 years of service.
He was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rainbow Club. He was a former member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church where he served as trustee and sang in the choir.
Don was a former member of the Elks. He enjoyed golf and cherished time with family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Ginny he is survived by his children, Donald Lyle Houchin of CA, Denise Greives of Lafayette, and Dwight (Michelle) Houchin of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rickey, William, Dustin, Joshua, Melissa, Benjamin, Isabella, Jason, Aubrey, and Fauna; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Mark Houchin; and siblings, John, Lyle, Robert Houchin, Ruby Reynolds, Edna Mayfield, Myrtle Collins, Oradelle Houchin, Mary Ruth Knuth, and Alta Houchin.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Pastor Kelly Sellers officiating.
Additionally, friends and family are invited to attend funeral services celebrating Don's life via live webcast which will be available at 1:00 pm (EST) on Saturday, January 2, 2021 using the following link: https://webcasts.lifetributes.com/1110643 and will be available for eighty days thereafter.
Entombment will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in Lafayette.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Monticello United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be sent directly to the church.
