Charles "Rick" Begley, 68, of Buffalo, passed away at 5:30 am, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on August 3, 1951 in Lafayette to the late Willie A. and Elizabeth (Houts) Begley. Ricks mother passed away when he was very young and his father later married the late Norma (Spear) Begley whom Rick cherished as his mother.
He married Linda Lee Bird on December 20, 1976 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on October 16, 2002. He married the former Patrica L. (Ishmiel) Mounce on June 18, 2004. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2017.
Rick attended Twin Lakes High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Korea.
He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church and a member of the former Amana Baptist and Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Churches.
Rick drove truck for Hanenkratt Grain Co. for a number of years and also part time after his retirement. He also drove part time for Dahlenburg farms after retirement. Rick was a member of the Moose Lodge formerly of Monticello. He loved picking guitar and playing in his band JUST US. Rick's hobbies included, going to auctions and eating late night "sanmiches". Rick loved spending time with his family, friends, and enjoyed his coffee time at the USA Restaurant. He enjoyed retail therapy and going to the Cracker Barrel following all his medical appointments.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Chris) Hale of Oxford, Micki Begley of Terre Haute, Traci (Phil) Stepp of Monticello, Kathrin (Paul) Bulington of Buffalo, Robin (Chad) Flack of Delphi, and Johnny (Tammy) Ohman of Camden; siblings, Mark (Sandra) Begley of Bowling Green, KY, Vicki (Steve) Knowles of Kenosha, WI, Brenda Sue Wisley of Monticello, Sherri Begley of Lafayette, Will (Rose) Begley of Buffalo; sister in law, Jan Begley of Logansport; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and beloved puppy, Charlie Bill.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Begley; sister, Joy Bueno; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with Harold Rutledge officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello where full military rites will be rendered.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Buffalo Christian Church or to the American Bladder Cancer Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
